From Zander in The Philippines:

GOSPEL READING: Matthew 11:25-27

Wednesday July 15, 2026

Blessed are the little ones

At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

PERSONAL REFLECTION:

Jesus thanks the Father, for it is the will of the Father to reveal the mysteries of the Kingdom to the little ones, to the innocents, to the childlike. For they fully trust in the Father.

Not to the wise, intelligent, or learned ones. Normally, the learned ones have a high sense of self-esteem and pride.

Instead of praising God and giving credit to God for the revelation, they will give credit to themselves and their intelligence for arriving at such insights and revealed truths.

The ego seeks self-glory.

The little ones do not seek glory, but rather give honor & praise.

They receive God's revelations with humility, awe, and wonder.

Not with a closed, scheming, or selfish mind. Nor with a proud heart.

May we be like the little ones in learning our faith. May we grow in awe and wonder to the revelations of God. May we give Him praise and glory always. --ZBT--

A stranger walked up to a 16-year-old busking at a Phuket market and asked a simple question: can I help you?

That moment, it turns out, is why Nene Royal ended up on the America's Got Talent stage.

Speaking on Thai talk show Hone Krasae this week, Nene and her father Narong Amloy finally explained how a girl playing for tips at Naka market got a shot at the biggest talent show on the planet.

Her dad says an American man came and sat watching her play. Afterwards he approached them and asked whether he could help, whether he could act as her coordinator for everything, and what her dream actually was. They told him: America's Got Talent.

He flew home. Then he came back with a suggestion. Make an audition clip and send it to me, and I will pass it on.

So father and daughter made one. Silence. They made another. Silence again. By the fourth and fifth attempt, with no reply, they gave up and stopped.

Then AGT got in touch. They wanted to see the clip again. Fix it and make it better, came the note. So the pair sat down together, reworked it and sent it back.

And then, silence again.

What happened next is the part that gets you. The American didn't email. He got on a plane, flew back to Phuket, picked up Narong and Nene in his car, and told them face to face that she was in. Her dad broke down in tears.

He never charged them a baht. He also helped cover the travel and flights that made the trip possible.

We still don't know his name. Nobody has published it, and the family have only ever described him as the American man who offered to help.

The rest is history. Nene sang The Cranberries' "Zombie" on the AGT stage, took four yeses, and the clip has since passed 100 million views on the show's TikTok.

She's had other quiet backers too. That vintage 1970s Ibanez she plays was a gift from a fan in Denmark. And this week the Prime Minister welcomed her to Government House, with the government pledging to help fund her next round.

But it started with a stranger at a market, and one question.

Who was the person who believed in you before anyone else did?

From Sandy:
What's on my mind you ask? I am contemplating my nation right now. It's direction away from God and Jesus Christ is the most disturbing of all but that is changing to the better as we speak. But I believe many of us are awakening to the morals, ethics honesty and openness and freedom of speech which are being attacked fiercely and seeing we have an opportunity to say something we should. Saying something is the start, politically challenging what is happening is important, and asking questions of policy that relegates our nation to a backwards trajectory is what we should all do as Christians certainly, but very much as citizens that care about our nation. But we don't have to live there - we are overcomers and God has called our nation to greater things so let's pray, be and do what we as individuals can do best for our nation, our city, our towns and our suburbs- but please,  let's all step up and be the LIGHT we are called to be. Just saying.....

In 1933, a young Austrian woman undressed in front of a camera.

She ran naked through a forest.

She swam naked in a lake.

The world was stunned.

The movie was called Ecstasy.

And its beautiful and scandalous star was Hedwig Kiesler.

While King Kong dominated the box office, she was the talk of the town.

Louis B. Mayer, a powerful Hollywood producer, called her "the most beautiful woman in the world."

The film was censored in much of Europe, and that's why it became a legend.

It is said that Mussolini refused to sell his copy at any price.

But Hedwig was more than just beauty.

Behind those enchanting eyes hid a sharp intelligence.

Her secret, she once said, was "to stay still and look stupid."

And while the world looked at her like a dream object, she memorized weapons, plans, and formulas.

At that time, she was married to Friedrich Mandl, a wealthy arms manufacturer and supplier to the Nazi regime.

He took her to banquets with Hitler and Mussolini, as an ornament to show off.

She, a Jew, hated that world.

And when she dared to rebel, her husband locked her in the family castle.

In 1937, she escaped.

She sedated her maid, disguised herself in her clothes, sold her jewels, and fled to London.

It was the beginning of a new life.

There, she reunited with Mayer. She signed a contract and a star was born: Hedy Lamarr.

In just a few years, she became a film icon.

She acted alongside Clark Gable, Judy Garland, and Bob Hope.

Seven consecutive box office hits.

But deep down, Hedy's heart was still at war.

In 1942, in the midst of World War II, Hedy invented a secret communications system. A revolutionary idea to prevent the signals of radio-controlled bombs and torpedoes from being intercepted.

A technology designed to kill Nazis
to ensure that each weapon reached its target.

The same technology that, years later, would become the basis of Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.

Many people don't know who Hedwig Kiesler was.

Few remember Hedy Markey, her real name.

But everyone knew Hedy Lamarr, the Hollywood diva.

And no one could imagine that the woman who captivated the big screen
also had the mind of an inventor and the heart of a warrior.

Dream your dreams. They are important.

From the Nerang Community Facebook Page

Nobody talks about the stress.

The physical demand.
Being mentally overwhelmed and close to burnout.
If you have a husband or partner that works in the trades then he probably never mentions this.
He's not working a typical 9-5
Before work starts he's planning, he's out getting materials, he's organising who's doing what.
Then it begins, he's got a full day of physical graft but he's also looking after the needs and concerns of the customer. Answering phone calls through the day to keep work coming in. His back is aching, he's out in the cold but he does it with a smile because he's trying to be pleasant around the customer.
As soon as the physical work is finished he's then writing quotes, chasing late payments, visiting other customers to look at more potential work, its a cycle that never ends.
Everybody else has finished at 17:00 but he's still going late into the evening tieing up loose ends.
Sorting accounts, paying building merchants and trying to shuffle jobs around because some customers are desperate now and some cancel at the last moment.
He knows he should be spending more time with you.
He wants to spend more time with the kids.
He knows there's little jobs that need doing around the house or for your family and friends...
But the truth is he's running at maximum capacity.
Thats why you catch him sat in his van starring into space, thats why sometimes you can talk to him and its in one ear out the other.
He's not purposefully ignoring you or trying to avoid you.
He's trying to calibrate whats happened that day and what he needs to do the next day.
Running a business as a self employed Tradesman is full on and non stop.
Remember he does all of this for you.
This is him providing, this is him trying his best to give you the nicest life possible in the only way he knows.... Hard work.
He doesn't tell you about the stress and struggle because he's been through it all day and doesn't want to re-live it and burden you with it.
He doesn't want no big praise for this either. No big special thanks are necessary.
Just a kind word, peace in the home and a little bit of appreciation.
Thats enough to keep him going, to make it worth it, if he feels respected and valued then he's ready to go again tomorrow

From my friend Faheem:

The soul shakes thinking about the terrorist attack in Srinagar. It is difficult to even guess what would have happened to those who have passed. Government should take some concrete steps on this, not just rhetoric.

Earlier, when such attacks were there, people used to ask for answers from the government. But now there is a new fashion - ask for answers from liberals, seculars and Muslims. Many people are sharing such posts on their wall as if there is still Congress government.

I wonder where do these people get so shameless from?

Demonetization was taken so that the back of terrorists could be broken. Kashmir has been made union territory. Even a strong government came to the center.

But still will liberal, secular and Muslims answer every time?

Why bro?

Taking someone's life in Islam has been considered a big crime. Surah Al-Maida (5:32) in the Quran it is clear that "Whoever kills an innocent man is as if he killed all humanity." "Islam gives a message of peace, kindness and humanity, and the killing of innocent is completely against its teachings.

Those who kill the innocent in the name of terrorism or violence, violate the basic spirit and teachings of Islam. No one becomes a true follower of Islam only by keeping an Islamic name or calling himself a Muslim. The true followers of Islam are those who conduct its message of peace and justice.

Those who execute such cowardly and inhuman acts can neither be representatives of Islam nor their actions can be linked to Islam.
